A series of Lessons in life from women we love

I grew up in South Africa where for years, people told me that I looked mixed-race and should model in Asia. Out of pure curiosity, I came to visit Singapore and fell in love with the diversity of cultures and all the delicious cuisines here. In South Africa a steak and salad is on the menu every day and you can’t find much else in the restaurants either!

I have so many favourite travel destinations. In Asia, I love travelling to Hong Kong where I stay with family friends. I also love Tokyo and Kyoto. I buy all my vintage pieces in Tokyo and walk around Kitchen Street and buy all sorts of amazing pottery. My favourite places to stay in Japan are the Grand Hyatt in Tokyo and the Ritz Carlton in Kyoto.

In my native South Africa, Cape Town is the most magical place. I love hiking there, driving to all the beautiful vineyards and watching the amazingly beautiful sunsets every day. I always rent a house around Clifton or Camps Bay which is right on the beach. I always have my best night’s sleep in Cape Town. During spring the weather is amazing with cool air and the subtle sound of the beach waves outside! It’s just beautiful.

Healthy eating and exercise are essential for aging well and this year I've really got myself into a health and fitness state of mind. I work out with a personal trainer three times a week and go to a spinning class twice a week. I’ve lowered my carbohydrate intake and cut out processed food as much as I can. In terms of nutrition, I try to take in a daily amount of 70% greens and 30% organic protein. I’ve also switched my water to alkalised water.

I love skincare and read up on all the procedures and products on the market which give women a hand either fighting ageing or enhancing their features without invasive surgery. For me right now a luminous complexion means the fractional carbon dioxide C02 laser. It removes multiple layers from the skin but leaves your complexion soft and plumped. I do this every 3 months. Another great treatment for a instant lift is HIFU which uses ultrasound technology to encourage collagen production and gives a tightening effect. In terms of skincare products, I am currently using the Sunday Riley range of oils, serums and lactic acid treatment.

After cleansing in the evening, I use rose water to tone my skin then I apply La Mer The Treatment Lotion which I follow with eye cream. My favourite beauty product is the Good Genes Treatment from Sunday Riley. It is made from lactic acid and removes all the dead skin cells. You magically wake up with a smooth glowing complexion! After the Good Genes Treatment I apply the Luna Sleeping Night Oil

My morning routine is exactly the same. I just swop out the lactic acid treatment for a vitamin C serum. Sometimes I add a few drops of Estee Lauder Intense Night Repair serum on top, followed by eye cream and Sunday Riley U.F.O Face Oil which is a dry medicated oil and helps prevent breakouts. And then always sunscreen!

As told to Sophie Corlett.
